Now, here are some of the reactions from the “tolerant left.”

Patriot Update recently posted a video on YouTube entitled, “6-Year-Old Gives 10 Reasons NOT to Vote for Obama!”, which has caused liberals to go on the warpath. With over 350,000 views and climbing, the venomous and hate-filled comments from the left are intolerable. Liberal around the country are accusing the parents of “brainwashing” and “exploiting” their child. (Somehow a bunch of elementary school children singing praises to Obama doesn’t count as “brainwashing or exploitation.”) Ironically, the left couldn’t care less if you abort your child. Teaching them conservative values, however, is tantamount to child abuse!

Just consider this another lesson in liberal “tolerance.”

Conservatives need to stand up, speak up, and drive the narrative

I’m tired of the left driving the narrative this election cycle.  We have anemic economic growth, over 8 percent unemployment, little to no job growth with a bleak outlook, no budget for three years, Obamacare and the Dodd-Frank financial reform laws destroying our healthcare and economic systems, over $5 trillion more on the national credit card, the loss of our triple AAA credit rating, failed green energy companies at the taxpayer’s expense, a massive tax increase (Obamacare) on the American people, the fast and furious scandal leading to the Attorney General of the United States being held in contempt, the FED monetizing our debt and devaluing our dollar leading to inflation, the doubling of gas prices since 2009, and a President running roughshod over the rule of law and our constitution.  All these very serious problems we face as a nation; our very future hangs in the balance and the left wants us to shift our focus towards the tax returns for the past 10 years of Mitt Romney.   How has this ridiculous narrative that should insult the intelligence of most Americans, hijacked the real debate we should be having over the issues that will impact our children and grandchildren?

This is how ridiculous it has gotten.  Yesterday Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) and Rep. Sander Levin (D-Mich.) proposed legislation that would require presidential candidates to release their tax returns from the past 10 years.  Not only would they be required to release their returns but they would also have to disclose any overseas investments; those evil Swiss bank accounts.  Rep. Sander Levin said Romney should “set the example” for future candidates and release his returns. But then he said the law must be changed so release of tax information is not at the discretion of candidates.  So where exactly do they get this so call legislative power to create such a law?  The last I checked the constitution is very clear about the requirements that a candidate must meet to be eligible to run for President of the United States. I don’t recall anything about having to release their tax returns for even one year.

Article II, section I of the constitution states:  No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty-five years, and been fourteen years a resident within the United States.   So it would actually make more sense to craft a bill that would require potential candidates to show their birth certificate to prove they are a natural born citizen and provide confirmation of their age.  To add eligibility requirements for candidates to release their tax returns and disclose overseas investments would require an amendment.  Well it would require an amendment if we actually followed the constitutional process to change the constitution.  We don’t do that anymore, our elected representatives make it up as they go and pass bills without any regard to our constitution.  My point is this insane narrative is being pushed forward by a united Democratic front with little or no resistance from the right.  Where is the right?  Why aren’t conservatives as united in defending Romney as the Democrats are in attacking him?

This is a perfect example of how the right lets the narrative slip through their fingers even though everything I stated in the first paragraph of this article is factual and is the reality many Americans live with each day.  The left has become skilled at shifting the focus away from the facts and towards their narrative.  They are emotional thugs and agitators who will lie and cheat their way to a win.  They use emotional appeal and class warfare to pretend they’re the defenders of the down trodden.  They count on emotion because when people are in an emotional state their judgment tends to be clouded.  They employ a “get the rich” tactic, tapping into the raw emotions of envy and jealously.  They say and do whatever it takes to advance their narrative and for the most part get very little resistance from the right.   Remember when President Bush was hammered by the left day in and day out not matter what he did.  I remember how frustrated I was that he didn’t fight back.  Instead he became a punching bag for the left that propelled them to retake the House in 2006 and the Senate and Presidency in 2008.  This cannot happen again.  The right must start pushing back and standing on principle.  When truth is our shield nothing can penetrate it.

We need a united conservative front at all levels.  From bloggers to elected representatives, we need to stand on principle and stop being punching bags for the left.  If they use emotional appeal, we use reason and logic with the same conviction.  If they lie then we expose them for the liars they are, because only through lies can they advance their narrative.  We must be united so we can wrestle the narrative back and remind people just how bad things have been under the Democrats watch.  As bad as things are now they can become a great deal worse if Obama is reelected.  People need to be reminded of all the above facts day in and day out.  They need to see through the political theater the Democrats are putting on in an attempt to shift their focus from the things that really matter.  And lastly we need to show how the narrative of “hating the rich” is the antithesis of everything America is supposed to be about.

Our founders wanted each of us to have an opportunity to be successful no matter where we were born on the social ladder.  It’s time we stop turning our backs on the opportunity our founders envisioned for each of us.  It’s time to advance a new narrative; one that is powered by liberty and freedom.

Thanks a Ton: I’ve Been Blogging for Three Years!

Actually, the “blogaversary” was on Saturday.  Three years ago then, Posted The Piggly Wiggly and the Porkulus, and the Conservative Hideout was drug, kicking and screaming, into the world.

What do I say?  I have a ton of people to thank, like Snarky Basterd, who inspired me to start blogging in the first place.  Then, there have been all the contributors, like Don, the late Ken Minor, AG, Matthew, Marie, Jackie,  Jason, A Conservative Teacher, Jim, John, Manhattan Infidel, and RHM.

That’s just for starters:

Pam Geller:  Who took the time to link me, and actually responded to my emails when I had only been blogging for a few weeks.

Nuke Gingrich:  For the same reason.  Nuke was a early linker and commenter.

Dr. Bill, of the ARRA News Service, and Blogs for Borders:  For supporting us early on.

The Liberty Pen:  Who linked early and often.

Steamboat McGoo:  Who made me laugh my posterior off, and was a another early supporter.

Solyent Green:  For obvious reasons.  (Birthday spassfabrik is always a consideration)

The Classic Liberal:  Another early supporter, and who has helped me with more coding issues than you can shake a stick at.

Steve at Motor City Times:  Yet another early supporter, and a fellow of the Resistance.

Larry Jackson at Political Realities:  For being there early on, and commenting so much over the years.

The Other McCain:  Who has been an inspiration and guide, and has linked me far more than I have been worthy.

Angel:  Who always drops and encouraging comment, and has a unique style of blogging all of her own.

Hans, at Western Front America:  For publishing my stuff, and posting an article of mine at the Goracle’s mothership, Current TV.  There was much debating liberals on that day.  Ironically, the blog was called Conservative Hideout for a reason.  I planned on blogging anonymously.  But, I never told Hans that, so he used my name at his place.  Hence, the Hideout stopped being a hideout at all.

I know I’ve forgotten people, and I apologize for that.  However, I did want to point out some of the people that have contributed to the success that we’ve had here.  And I hope that they will continue to help make the CH 2.0 a success.

Santorum Capitalizes on Tuesday Victories

Once again, the pundits are shocked, and Romney’s inevitability has again been put on hold.   Rick Santorum won three states on Tuesday, and it appears that his campaign has had an influx of cash as well.  More on the influx of cash from The Blaze…

His three wins yesterday were bound to give his fundraising numbers a boost today — but Rick Santorum says a steady stream of dollars started to pour in even before his polling numbers began to rise.

“We’ve had a great 24 hours,” Santorum told CBS News in an interview. “My guess is we’ve raised—I haven’t heard exactly, but my guess is we’re in around a half-million dollars since [Tuesday] morning. So we’ve had a good day and we’ve had a good couple of weeks, you know, finishing in the teens in Nevada and Florida and yet, our fundraising was increasing as our numbers were not in those two states.

“And I think that gave us the impression that we could do well on Tuesday and we put a lot of time and energy into those three states. I’m not lying about that. We rolled the dice last night and obviously it paid off.”

Perhaps donors sensed the impending victories in the middle of the country.

Rick Santorum’s Super PAC — the Red, White and Blue Fund — had a good day, too:

“We’ve been working at a speed faster than any other day the super PAC has seen in this election season,” Stuart Roy, a political advisor to the Red White and Blue Fund, wrote in an email to the Los Angeles Times/Tribune Washington Bureau. “We haven’t made a single fundraising call today because potential donors have been the ones calling us.” …

Roy said the incoming resources would allow the super PAC to do voter advocacy and polling in states it had not originally planned to target.

“The final decisions haven’t yet been made on television ad placement but we are taking a hard look at states that may have previously been viewed as completely uphill…both ways,” Roy wrote. “For instance, a couple of the Southern states are in play since [Mitt] Romney’s Northeastern politics don’t play well there.  And although [Newt] Gingrich may look a bit like Paula Deen, politically he’s no Southerner.”

My take?  People have been looking for the anti-Romney.  Many apparently believe that they have found it in Santorum.  I take this as a sign that many Conservatives are put off by Romney, his history, his Alinsky-styled campaign, and the fact that he is the favorite of the MSM and the GOP establishment.

Also, the grudge match between Obama and the Catholic Church may be galvanizing Social Conservatives, and Santorum would be the primary beneficiary of that sudden increase in interest.  Given Romney’s history of supporting abortion rights, Santorum might be poised to take it to the establishment’s choice.  The real question is if Santorum can withstand the Romney smear machine.  Santorum hasn’t the baggage that Gingrich carries, so team RINO will be hard pressed to invent some allegations to use against him.  That won’t stop them from trying, however.

As for Newt Gingrich, he did not fare well.  Several weeks ago, he suggested that all other candidates quite the campaign, and let him take on Romney.   After Tuesday, that suggestion seems most premature.

Thinking realistically, Santorum didn’t gain much, at least in terms of delegates, however, he did show that Romney can be beaten convincingly, and that this show isn’t over.  Send the fat lady backstage folks, this is just getting started.

The Demographics Still Hold: More Americans are Conservative, but why is the Left so Successful?

Every year, Gallup does a poll to determine the political division in America.  This year, the results were much the same as in the last two, with nearly twice a Americans reporting themselves to be “Conservative” as those identifying as “liberal.”  The Blaze has some more coverage…

The Gallup poll shows that 40 percent of Americans consider themselves conservative; 35 percent moderate; and 21 percent view themselves as liberal. The figures are no different than they were in 2010 and conservatives have outnumbered both moderates and liberals for three years running now.

Politico adds:

Conservatives began outstripping moderates in 2008, and the percentage of moderates has declined steadily over the last two decades, from 43 percent 1992 to 35 percent in 2011.

In fact, both self-identified conservatives and liberals have risen in number since the early 1990s, indicating a growing polarization in American politics.

While self-identified conservatives dominate the Republican Party, making up 71 percent, the Democratic Party is more split – 39 percent of Democrats view themselves as liberal, and 38 percent consider themselves moderates.

It might be worth noting that, per the poll’s findings, independents are mainly moderate (41 percent), but veer more towards conservatism (35 percent) than liberalism (20 percent).

So, we outnumber the “enemy.”  But when then, are the liberals so successful?  Being only 20% of the population, why do they have an impact beyond their numbers?  Here are some thoughts.

1.  Liberals are well placed.  During the “long march through the institutions,” leftists, and flat out communists, occupied important positions in influential institutions:  Education and media, in particular.  Doing so allows them to control what is taught to children at all levels.  Then, they attempt to control the information that is released to the public.  They were successful in that area for many years, but now, the alternative media is making a significant dent in their power.

2.  Liberals are better organized.  Being collectivists in their nature, leftists are well suited to the role of being drones.  They are more likely to give up themselves to a cause, and show blind faith towards it.  Conservatives, on the contrary, are more individually minded, and tend to be more self sufficient, not only in actions, but in thought.  That does, at times leave us at a disadvantage, but it also means that we don’t submit all that well.   That makes leftist plans and policies far more difficult to implement and maintain.

3.  Conservatives might be a bit more busy.  If you recall, in 2009, CBS engaged in what Limbaugh would call, “a random act of journalism.”  They published the results of a poll that indicated that the average Tea Party member was in their early 40’s, made slightly more than the median income, and was more likely to be college educated.  Looking at that data, we might assume that most have families, have careers, and are probably working towards their individual goals.  That is, my friends, how it should be, but it doesn’t always leave room for activism, indoctrination, thuggery, and the other hallmark behaviors of liberals.

4.  Also, knowing my own experiences, and the stories of other bloggers, I wonder what “kind” of Conservatives this 40% is?  I know that drank establishment GOP Kool-Aid for some time before I woke up.  I called myself a Conservative, but it was the weak, big government, NeoCon brand, and I didn’t know the why’s and how’s of Conservatism.  So, I have to ask, how many of these Conservatives are as I was?  I’m almost afraid that I will get an answer.
