Are you a staunch defender of liberty?

Sentry Journal had a good post the other day that got me thinking- are there any real difference today between the Obama-led Democratic Party and the Tories of colonial times?

…You see the actions of our elected representatives are in complete contrast of the actions these men took 236 years ago. Our elected representatives to include the President are the kind of ilk our founders were declaring independence from. We’re living with the same type tyrannical forces that were oppressing the rights of the colonists in the 1770s. Our government confiscates our property through taxation, they overregulate our free market, they can now hold our citizens indefinitely without due process, and the TSA can conduct illegal searches and seizures in violation of the 4th amendment. They are now planning on fly drones over our heads to spy on us. Our government is attempting to manage every aspect of our lives and the officials who we elect to represent our views are allowing it to happen. Now compare all this anti-liberty actions that are being imposed on the American people every day to the actions the British imposed on the colonists. I say we’re far worse off today than the colonists were in 1776.

There is not an ounce of courage left in D.C. these days to promote the cause our founders put their lives on the line to secure. And the reason for this is because we no longer elect liberty loving, virtuous people into office…

… Are they staunch defenders of liberty? Would they be willing to pledge their lives and fortunes for it? The answer is no. These are the kind of people are founders opposed. These people are the modern day equivalent to the Loyalist or Tories of colonial times. They were loyal to the crown of England and stood against the men who signed the declaration. They stood against liberty and freedom. They even took up arms against the Patriots in the name of King George. They used some of the vilest of tactics to discredit the movement for liberty and freedom….

Are you a staunch defender of liberty?

This is an important question that our Founding Fathers answered and that needs to be asked of all our elected officials today. Given the option of governing us (perhaps in their own mind better than we govern ourselves) or given the option of letting us be free to make our own choices, which would an elected official choose? Given the option of levying a tax on us to raise money for some project that the elected official (or king) believes is important or letting the people keep their money and do with it as they wish, what option would the elected official choose? Given the option of disarming common people and stationing troops among them (supposedly for their own protection) or having common people arm themselves and protect themselves, which option would the elected official choose? Does the elected official believe that some people are better than other people, or do they believe that all men are equal and free?

These questions are the very questions that were asked our Founding Fathers in 1776, and they wrestled mightily with the answers before putting their names to a piece of paper that declared to everyone that people are, and of right ought to be, free and independent, that the purpose of government is simply to protect god-given natural rights, and that these rights are the right to live, the right to freedom and liberty, and the right to keep and earn property. Our nation was born from these glorious and eternal truths- I wonder today if the Obama-Democrats believe in these any more?

UPDATE: Welcome readers from the FBI Criminal Justice Information Systems, who have been lately visiting my blog! Although it does make me curious as to why you are reading blog posts on my site during company time from taxpayer computers, I am sure you are just trying to gain some insight into the foes of tyranny that seek to do America harm, so it’s probably all good. If Voter Fraud Never Happens, Why is a NAACP Official in Prison for it?

We’ve been covering the massive voter fraud machine that seems to work along with the Democratic Party.  We’ve also been rather pleased that authorities all over the US are proposing measures to curb it.  However, those same organisations that have been accused or caught engaging in fraud, are opposing measures to stop it.  Among their claims, is that it doesn’t happen.  But, as usual, reality crushes the narrative.  As for the latest example, a former NAACP official was caught voting multiple times by absentee ballot.

In a story ignored by the national media, in April a Tunica County, Miss., jury convicted NAACP official Lessadolla Sowers on 10 counts of fraudulently casting absentee ballots. Sowers is identified on an NAACP website as a member of the Tunica County NAACP Executive Committee.

Sowers received a five-year prison term for each of the 10 counts, but Circuit Court Judge Charles Webster permitted Sowers to serve those terms concurrently, according to the Tunica Times, the only media outlet to cover the sentencing.

“This crime cuts against the fabric of our free society,” Judge Webster said.

Sowers was found guilty of voting in the names of Carrie Collins, Walter Howard, Sheena Shelton, Alberta Pickett, Draper Cotton and Eddie Davis. She was also convicted of voting in the names of four dead persons: James L. Young, Dora Price, Dorothy Harris, and David Ross.

And, of course, the MSM declined to cover it.

Once again, the narrative is destroyed, but that won’t stop the people that engage in, or benefit from, voter fraud.

Professor Epstein: Obama is Incoherent and Frightening

Here is what Richard A. Epstein, Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution, Professor of Law at New York University Law School, and senior lecturer at the University of Chicago, had to say regarding the major speech that President Barack Obama (one-term Democrat) gave at Osawatomie, Kansas:

The painful ignorance that is revealed in these remarks augurs ill for the long-term recovery of America. With the president firmly determined to set himself against the tides of progress, innovation will be harder to come by. The levels of unemployment will continue to be high as the president works overtime to impose additional restrictions on the labor markets and more taxes at the top of the income distribution—both backhanded ways to reward innovation and growth.

The problem, therefore, with the president’s speech is not that it is demagogic in tone. The problem is that it is intellectually incoherent. As a matter of high principle, the president announces his fealty to markets. As a matter of practical politics, he denigrates and undermines them at every step. It is a frightening prospect to have a president who lives in a time warp that lets him believe that the failed policies of 1935 can lead this nation back from the brink. His chosen constituency, the middle class, should tremble at the prospect that his agenda might well set the course for the United States for the next four years.

In Professor Epstein’s analysis of President Obama’s speech, he echo’s some of the comments that I have been making on liberal blogs like Balloon Juice and others- that in spite of his rhetoric and because of his economic incoherence and illiteracy, workers, school teachers, union employees, blue collar employees, the middle class, supporters of Occupy Wall Street, and related groups are going to suffer the most from President Obama’s policies.

As Epstein wrote in his article Populist-in-Chief:

It is a good thing when plants can achieve the same output with less labor. Do we really want an America in which thousands of people work in dangerous occupations to turn molten lava into steel bars? Far better it is that fewer workers are doing those jobs. The jobs lost in that industry will be in part replaced by newer jobs created in the firms that build the equipment that make it possible to run steel mills at a lower cost and far lower risk of personal injury. The former workers can seek jobs in newer industries that will only expand by competing for labor.

And what about those ATM machines? Does the president really want people to have to queue up in banks to make deposits or withdraw cash in order to make a boom market for human tellers? Perhaps we should return to the days before automation, when phone calls were all connected by human operators. And why blast the Internet, which has created far more useful jobs than it has ever destroyed?

You see, if President Obama had his way, we would return to the Great Depression, when people were dependent on government for goods and services because government was in the business of destroying productive business around the world. If President Obama had his way, he would increase taxes and regulations on businesses while giving out subsidies and tax breaks to favored businesses, favoring those who hire lobbyists and special interest groups who redirect wealth over those who create wealth and make products or sell goods and services. If President Barack Obama had his way- a Congress of Democrats that went along with his ideas and ideals- America would be dragged back to the early 1900’s, when we had a low standards of living and shorter life spans, and Obama would happily fill up dangerous and inefficient steal mills with ‘workers’, he would sign praises to the joy of labor while factory workers worked for low wages (compared to today) in dangerous industries, and the working class would have few goods (like cheap cars coming in from the Far East, cheap electronics built in backward nations around the world, and labor-saving devices everywhere built everywhere) just so that he could burnish his protectionist credentials.

When government gets in the business of redirecting wealth and picking and choosing the winners and losers in society, the only people who win and get wealthy are government officials- this lesson has been demonstrated over and over around the world many times over. And yet, that is exactly what Barack Obama and his Democratic Party are proposing to do- increase the power of the government to control wealth, liberty, and property in our society, and that somehow through this ‘workers’ and the ‘99%’ will get more wealthy and happier. The logic is not explained, the mechanisms by which wealth is created are not explained- rather, the logic is the same logic that is found in every despotic tyranny throughout history- people have earned things that others want, and the government will get those things by playing one side off the other. Obama’s magic act of wealth creation is the same sort of tyranny that the world has seen many times over- and has fallen for many times over as well.

Our nation has not only learned nothing from the Great Depression, we have learned the wrong lessons as well (see my post Lessons from Economic Recessions- Introduction and Great Depression), and are going about repeating the same mistakes that turned a recession in 1930 into a Great Depression that lasted to the 1950’s (and included in it the collapse of the world into a deadly World War!). We must not allow this guy to enact those same policies- I don’t care who does what with the GOP, and it doesn’t matter who they are, anyone is an upgrade over this incoherent ideologue whose mind is so filled with mush and mindless platitudes and liberal bumper slogans that he is now unable to effectively design any policies that have a slightly positive effect on anyone.

President Obama, any Democrat who supports him, and any Republican who agrees with his policies needs to join Herbert Hoover on the unemployment line (or better yet, get a job somewhere in the private economy building or making or doing something useful!).

Democrats Lie? Say it isn’t so!

More Democratic shenanigans, so what else is new?

Quick Hits: More Democratic Shenanigans, Splitting the Vote and More Lies

As the campaign wears on, we are seeing more and more into the true nature of the Democratic Party.  They are distracting from their failed policies by issuing false allegations, personal attacks, and flat out lies to get the job done.  Let’s take a look at a couple more recent examples.

Democrats do Robocall for “Tea Party” Candidate:

When you can’t run on the truth, try to split the GOP vote…

Democratic congressional candidate Steve Pougnet unleashed an automated phone call to voters Friday that attempts to split the conservative vote by touting a third-party candidate.

The call hit the same day as voters received a Pougnet mailer that says American Independent candidate Bill Lussenheide makes Republican U.S. Rep. Mary Bono Mack “look like a raging liberal.”

The Pougnet effort is aimed at nudging Republicans to consider Lussenheide as the “tea party” alternative to Bono Mack.

Last year, I covered that there is a “Demographic of Doom” for the Democratic Party. Basically, the people politically identified as ‘Conservatives” vastly outnumbered those identified as “liberal,” and equaled those identified as “moderate or independent.” This is what I had to say back then.

Recent polls have shown that America is beginning to move to the right, with 40% claiming to be Conservative, 21% liberal, and 38% “moderate.”

With nearly a 2-1 margin, Conservatives might see this as a cause for celebration. This has happened before- people do turn more conservative when there are difficult economic times. It might also be because the POTUS has been caught in many of his lies, and his polices are being exposed, stalled, and (hopefully) defeated.
